Dear Families:

The faculty at Tutor Time of Melville would like to welcome all of our new friends who are beginning with us for the 2019-’20 school year and a special good luck to all of our current children entering their new classrooms.

You may find the September Menu, September Tutor Times Monthly Calendar and our 2019 Fall and Winter Events Flier on our website. Please mark your calendars for our special family events, school pictures, conferences and days we are closed. Our first family gathering is Grandparents Day on Monday, September 9, from 3:00 – 3:30pm. A snack will be served and each classroom will have a fun craft for the children to do with their grandparent or special person. Please join us for Meet the Teacher Night, Tuesday, September 10, 6:30 – 7:30pm. This is a special evening showcasing your child’s teacher, our awesome curriculum, your child’s busy schedule and a fun classroom activity. It’s a wonderful night to meet other parents and the Administrative Team. Our last big event in September is Picture Day, from Tuesday September 24 – Thursday, September 26. Please find your child’s picture day on the September Tutor Times Monthly Calendar.

We are excited to continue our Extra Curricular Learning Programs:

Grow Fit: Yoga The focus is to encourage the imagination and critical-thinking skills in our children; it won’t just be ALL work. Our promise is, to make this experience as fun and engaging as possible in our two’s and up programs.

Spotlight on Spanish™: An introduction to a new language with puppetry, songs, stories and images in our two’s and up programs.

Music with Ms Laurie: We are excited to the return of Miss Laurie, beginning Monday, September 9.

We will also continue with ASL Discoveries, a weekly fun musical approach for sign language development for our Infant and Toddler classrooms beginning on Tuesday, September 10. ASL focuses on musical fun, creative activities and interactive games which creates a basic foundation for communication and language development. The Handwriting Without Tears program will continue in our Pre-K classrooms, and certain sensory components will be utilized as an introductory in our Preschool program. We use fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate instructional methods to introduce handwriting as an instinctive and comfortable skill. Our teachers and teacher assistants are very excited to implement our new and continued programs into their classroom this school year.

Safety in our center is our main priority. Here are a few of our Safety Policies to help keep your child safe and our center in compliance with the state regulations:

• Please do not hold the front door open for anyone. All staff and parents have their individual codes to enter through the front door. Do not give your code out to anyone.

• Please keep your children with you once entering or exiting the building. Our children learn to stay together as a class when transitioning from classroom to playground. We hop, walk, stomp, march and sing, but no running.

• Please let us know if you need assistance picking up two or more children. It is always best to pick up your youngest child first. Children must never be alone in the hallways or waiting outside a classroom for a sibling to be picked up. Older siblings are not allowed in an infant room, even with booties.

• Please call or email Jessica if your child is out sick or absent for the day. Jessica@tutortimemelville.com

• Please be alert for families and children who are crossing the parking lot when driving on the property. Please park in marked stalls only. Please drive slowly. Parking along the grass is not permitted. Parking is allowed in the Gossip lot next door as well as KFC lot in the row against our building.

Tutor Time Melville is a special place to be! We are honored that you have chosen Tutor Time Melville for your child care needs. We thank you for sharing your little one with us every day.
